What plans to tackle crime?

The Editor, Sir:

I am a college student who has a keen interest in the growth and development of my country. But when I observe the path that the country is heading down, I am forced to ask the following question: What is the minister of national security's plan to tackle this very serious crime problem?

Prior to the Golding administration, he gave commitment to tackle the problem, without fear or favour. I am yet to see that materialise. And even if he did, we are not seeing the fruits.

May I say I am fully aware that the crime situation in Jamaica is not easy to deal with, neither should this administration be blamed for the way it has escalated over the last decade. What I am simply asking of the prime minister and his administration is what are the plans to combat this monster?

I am etc.,
