Claro extends lifespan of prepaid phone credit

Published: Friday | September 3, 2010 Comments 0
Williams

Telecoms service provider Claro Jamaica yesterday announced it has adjusted the lifespan of its prepaid phone credit.

The adjustments see the activation period moving to a minimum of 30 days on a top-up of $100 and a maximum of 90 days on a top-up of $2,500. There is no change to the provision which sees any remaining balance after the activation period rolling over when subscribers top up within 30 days of the expiration date.

"A top-up of $100 will still require additional credit after seven days for customers to continue enjoying unlimited free calling and texting to their selected numbers," the telecoms provider said in a release.

Claro said some of its customers had expressed concern at a previous change which resulted in a reduction in the activation period.

"Customer satisfaction is important to us at Claro," said Latoy Williams, media manager at the firm. "We heard the concerns of our subscribers and we responded."

Williams also stated that "this move is part of an overall thrust to improve our customer-service offer to our clients, as well as to enhance the overall customer experience when doing business with Claro".

The adjustments take effect today.
